If it isn’t one thing…
I found out at 10 PM Friday that I have an abscess. I’ve had this damned disease for 20+ years, and so I guess I’m lucky in that this is the first time this has happened. Only I don’t feel lucky.
I’ve been having this intermittant, irritating pain in my tailbone - almost as if I fell on it. So after a week or so I saw the doc who ordered blodd work and a CT, yadda yadda and… abscess. BAH! I was put on a regimen of Cipro and Flagyl and have to go back for another CT on the 23rd. If the abscess is shrinking, “we’re in business” (exact quote). If not, I have to see a surgeon.
Now, I am not squeamish when it comes to surgery. I’ve had three intestinal resections and a c-section. This particular surgery, however, would not be abdominal. The abscess, you see, is right where the pain is: the tailbone. So. Chances are nearly 100% that the point of entry would be, uh, where I would prefer NOT to have anything enter. Thank you. Ahem.
So. That’s where I am. Trying to figure out how in the hell to get out of this one, or fit in in if I must because, hello!, I am freaking booked solid until late July. FML.

5:05 PM - home from our zoo adventure, none the worse for wear despite the unbelievable amount of people
5:32 PM - News just announced 20,752 people at the zoo today. No shit. It was on the news. I’m not just a crotchety old woman.
